One of the kids in my daycare is teething. She is the only child and so her mommy was a little frazzled this morning when she dropped her off. The poor baby was so cranky and chewing on her fist like crazy! She didn't want to take a nap or concentrate on eating or do any of the things she usually likes to do when she is here .She hasn't got the coordination yet to hold and chew a teething ring. It was a sad morning. :(
Until I remembered one of my mom's old tricks.
I took one of her spare pacifiers, took my sanitary scissors from the first aide kit, & snipped a small hole in the base of the pacifier where it meets the plastic. I then filled the pacifier with cold water and stuck it in the freezer. 5 minutes later, it was frozen solid. Instant teething ring that she had no trouble keeping in her mouth! She calmed down, ate, and went to sleep. The cold on those gums was exactly what she needed! When her mommy picked her up from daycare, she was really pleased with the solution to her daughter's teething issue.
So, parents of teethers, don't get discouraged. If your child uses a pacifier, this tip can work. I'm so glad that I remembered this trick from my mom!
